![]() ![]() The riddler has been an iconic foe for years, ever since Frank Gorshin played him in the Adam West TV show. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t resist leaving clue, hoping his rival will try (and fail) to solve it. Despite being one of Batman’s most intelligent foes, Edward is plagued with an obsessive compulsion to leave riddles at the scenes of his crimes. Known for his green suit and question mark appearance, the riddler has challenged the dark knight with a vast array of riddles, mind-games and death traps, forcing batman to put his deductive skills to the test. When you think about villains that challenge batman on an intellectual level, you immediately think of Edward Nygma, The Riddler. Her only friend (human-wise) is Harley Quinn and together, these two have proven to be a formidable duo.īoth beauty and brains, Ivy is forever a thorn in Batman’s side. The only man she hadn’t enticed is batman, which naturally make him her common foe. What make her more dangerous is the fact that she has superpowers, making her one of the few foes in the gallery with powers.Īmong her power-set includes the ability to control and manipulate plant life, secreting pheromones from her body that either controls others or kill them and an immunity to all known forms of poisons.Īnother trait of Ivy is her sex appeal, which she won’t hesitate to use on most men (and even women if necessary). In her mind, Humanity is the problem and she is the solution. Despite this, she is very loving and compassionate, at-least to plants and all of mother nature.Īn eco-terrorist of the worst kind, Poison Ivy uses any ruthless methods she can think of to protect nature and destroy those who aim to destroy it. For now, keep reading for a first peek at the confirmed villains in The Batman and what we've learned about them so far.Pamela Isley is a walking kiss of death. The Batman is intended to set up a full trilogy of new movies (plus a spinoff HBO Max series!), so it certainly seems likely that Batman's most famous foe will arrive at some point it's just a matter of when. It's already been confirmed that neither current versions of the Joker - Joaquin Phoenix's from Joker or Jared Leto's from Suicide Squad - is connected to this Batman universe, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be re-introduced. Does this hint the Joker is already active in this version of Gotham? Currently, the Joker is not slated to appear in the movie, although he certainly could be a well-kept secret role. There's one other moment worth noting that seems to tease the arrival of another villain: Batman facing off against a mob that appears to be wearing white clown makeup. ![]() In the glimpses we see of her in the first trailer, she seems to be more mercenary than evil, sneaking into a crime scene just to crack a safe. On top of that, there's also Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, who can be either friend or foe to Batman depending on the story. Young versions of the characters appeared in the TV series Gotham, which centreed on the backstory of Gotham City when Bruce Wayne was just a child, but they haven't appeared in feature films in years: the Penguin's last appearance was in 1992's Batman Returns, and the Riddler's came in 1995's Batman Forever. In all the marketing so far, the primary villains appear to be the Riddler and the Penguin, two of Batman's most famous foes in the comics - and ones who haven't reached oversaturation in the movies yet. The trailer for The Batman has us super intrigued for the latest iteration of the iconic superhero, and we're just as excited to see who the villains are. ![]()
